Regional security

Regional security has its own implications on bordering states and they are mostly negative in a case of war

Regional security has to be the „challenge to deal with“ for every state in the region. The issues defining security in the XXI century are definitely different than the ones before World War I. As the world has become more interconnected, the security issues have transcended national borders. Today, it is impossible to think about national security without looking at the implications of state security issues on the region and vice versa. If we talk about any armed conflict in the world, we will see that every state around that conflict is involved with the conflict in some way .

The link between conflict region and neighboring countries are diverse. Foreign fighters, weapon smuggling, migrations, decreasing of investments are only few of many ways how conflict can affect others.

We can’t talk about national security in all, without talking about the region. Yes, there are more than one or two subjects and not only the state and the region. The conflicts in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa not only influence the states in the respective regions, but also shape regional security and have repercussion on the worgesggweld order. Moreover, the emergence of non-state actors such as international organizations (UN, NATO, EU, BRICS), the contemporary security challenges (terrorism, migration, hybrid warfare, climate change) blur the line between what state and non-state is, and make the security architecture increasingly complex.
